Shaun & Venice ties the knot!

Shaun is a dear friend of mine from college and finally he's tying the knot with the sweetest gal, Venice!!

He's another creative friend of mine, always challenging me to do the impossible. I wanted to make his wedding cake and he challenged me to do my first 'topsy-turvy' cake! With his theme color.... It was definitely a challenge but well worth it....

The result...

A romantic 4 tier topsy turvy cake with pastel green, pink & purple!

Wedding: Syaz & Dylan ties the knot!

My first real 3 tier cake :) Syaz has been my friend since primary! In fact, we even went to the same tadika! When i heard that she was tying the know and wanted a cake, I was more than happy to make it for them as a gift! Syaz works @ WWF and loves animal! (of course :P) The theme she gave me is.. elephants & a monkey!

Wedding Cake as Centerpiece!

Wan Chin & Wei Foong ties the knot! :)

They are such a sweet couple. Because they wont have the opportunity to wear traditional chinese costumes for their wedding, they requested it for their mini cake! And it is to be displayed on their main table!

Worked with 2 of my favorite vendors! Jason from floralsense created a beautiful main table set up and prepared some wine glasses for me to place the cake! While Kewynn from Whizart took these 2 pictures for me! :)

A Wedding Gift

I need to tell a little story. A very cute one. I received a few orders for the same date and later, I found out that... A is ordering for B who is getting married same day as her birthday. A is B's very good friend. B who have been quite stressed out with her wedding plans also placed an order but it's for their 1st wedding anniversary. B has been quite upset with how things does not go as she hoped it would.

A on the other hand... asked me to reject her order as she wants to surprise B and hopefully make up with all the not-so-happy encounter she's been going thru!

Then i found out... both of them are my juniors and i know who they are! LOL... all in all, everything worked according to A's plan. B had a great wedding and was very surprised with her birthday cake (cum wedding cake?) hehehe....

Congratulations again Millie! Here's a toast to you & ur *jap* hubby! May the both of you stay in love forever & grow old together! xoxox

The Launching of My Little Corner

My Little Corner was launched last Sunday. It was crazy preparing towards it coz prior to the opening... We had lots of crazy orders! That's how it always is.. Madness always come together!

The launch was definitely successful! Everyone we invited came :)

Anyway, just a little info on what "my little corner" is all about... It is apart of Whizart's Boutique Studio. Besides designer cakes, there's also bridal gowns, wedding stationary & wedding photography. Those of you interested to view any of the above can pop by to the boutique and view!

Opening Hours: Tuesday - Friday 11am - 7pm ; Sat & Sun - By appointment only

We am not based there but we can always meet there ~ also by appointment only. We will prefer to meet after we have done the basic ground work discussion. Please understand that we need to work on all the sugar art pieces most of the time... :) For those who would like to have a look at these sugar art pieces can pop over!

Kid bro leaving for Perth

My kid bro left to start a new chapter of his studying life in Perth...

earlier this year in April!

And in about a month's time he will finish his 1st year foundation already!

I meant to post this up right after he left... hahaha but oh well...

There's actually a story behind this... 9 years back when i first left home to go study in Australia.. this was also quite the scenario only that my kid bro was only less than 10 and could fit inside the entire trolley! and my now-husband... was busy playing & pushing him ard the airport! That was when I realized how important I am to the both of them... they were having so much FUN 'sending me' off! *sigh*

anyways... a message that's better late than never...

Easter Celebration

My dear cousin Phoebs and her church members helps to guide and build the characters of a group of children and in conjunction with Easter, i decided to bake some cuppies for them!

Lil Jae's Birthday

This super duper adorable guy turned 1 in March 09 and I had the honor to make his birthday cake + cupcakes! He's Jaeven, my friend's son and I love him just so much!! He is such a darling! Very cheeky but cute! Will let picture proof it to u :)

My 1st tutorial - How to make sugarpaste Doraemon

1. Roll 4 different shaped balls - one should be bigger for the head, followed by a medium sized for the tummy and 2 small balls for the hand (note: i added wilton's royal blue to achieve this colour)

2. Then, roll two balls of white paste - this is to form the legs. We should always start from the leg

3. Place the white balls on to a foam and flatten them slightly

4. On the tummy, using some white paste, roll them into the shape of a ball and flatten it to achieve the below. Else, you can also cut out a round shape from the white fondant.

5. Now that the tummy is done, stick the two feet onto its tummy. You can use either water to be the gum, or u can add some water to CMC to create very good sugarpaste gum! Water usually works fine for me

6. Using a black edible pen, draw a pocket on doraemon's tummy. Best to leave it till it is dry before you draw ( i was in a hurry - hence the uneven-ness)

7. Next, let's add a chain and bell to doraemon! Roll out a small piece of red paste into a long sausage and stick it to doraemon's tummy. Then, roll a ball of yellow paste, using a toothpick, pierce a hole in the middle to create a more bell looking shape. Now, leave the body to dry...

8. For the hands, roll out two balls of blue paste. And them roll them out to create the below. One end should be smaller than the other. At the bigger end, flatten them.

9. Then glue them on to the body like the picture. Don't worry if it looks ugly now :P Also, add in a spaghetti stick right in the middle of the body to hold the head later.

10. For the face, do the same thing. Either roll out some white paste into a ball and flatten them or use a round shape cutter to get a round. Paste them onto the head. Remember to leave space for its eyes.

11. Using the smaller side of the ball tool, create an indentation for the eye. Roll out two small balls of white paste.

12. Stick them into the hole which you've made and voila!

13. For the eyes, roll two balls of black paste and paste them on. Use the ball tool to flatten the ball out nicely. Also roll a ball of red paste to create doraemon's red nose.

14. Using black edible pen again, draw its whiskers! Again, it's advisable to wait till it dries. Else u will get not-so-nice whiskers like what i did. For its mouth, using red paste, roll it out and using a small round cutter, cut a thin round shape. Cut this into half to create the mouth.

15. Finally, stick the head onto the body - right in the middle of the spaghetti stick. Make sure it's centralized because the head is bigger than the body. To finish it up, add 2 balls to its hand!

It is not 'JUST-A-CAKE'

I need to tell u a story... a story on how these standardize sets came about...

I know cupcake is now a new 'fad' in malaysia and ard the world just like how doughnuts, rotiboy and etc were a 'fad'. But what's different between cupcakes with cream and cupcakes with 'sugar art' is... well, firstly - definitely the price and secondly... cupcakes with sugar art on it is no longer 'just-a-cake'!

It's not fair for me to get upset when I get lots of feedback such as 'huh? cake also so expensive?' or 'huh! 12 cupcakes so expensive? what if i cut down to 9?" I always cry silently to these questions...

Honestly, anyone can bake cupcakes. Just look up your favorite cake recipe, be it a simple sponge cake, those pre-mix cakes you can get at any stores or just google up for something u like and there u go! 20 minutes later u are waiting for a fresh batch of cupcakes baking in the oven. Seriously, if you want to give someone a gift and make it more personalized, why not you bake and I decorate? :)

But when u add on a piece of 'sugar art'... now, depending on what 'sugar art' u want... these little sugar arts (be it smaller or big) are very time consuming! Some can take up to 3-4 hours per figure! It is an art - not just-a-cake. An edible art to be more exact...

For the past 2 years (esp recently), I have been receiving a lot of orders which I have to turn down. I must have disappointed many of you but trust me, it is not easy on my part too - i feel very bad :( Whenever I accept an order, I strive to do my very best - and creativity needs inspiration and inspiration don't come easily! I don't have a template or anything like that. Each order is given different attention and different thought! Also, as an artist, I value my art pieces and hope you do too.

Another question which I am asked all the time is "U sell cupcake? I want 9 pieces. How much?" or 'I want your price list' or 'I want to order one birthday cupcake set'... very often, I spend hours replying the same thing but it hit me, maybe it's all me... I've not made it easy for you.. Maybe i've not specified them clearly enough... and trust me... I'm planning more ways to make it easier for you all... To those of you who get really confused in finding information that you want... I am really sorry!

Hopefully, the birth of these new standardized sets to be launched real soon... will solve some of 'our' dilemma! Pricing for these 'pre-designed' sets will be a lot more affordable. But rest assured... these pre-designed sets are still customizable to a certain extent!

Customized orders will still be taken but each customized orders will be quoted after a clear discussion of your request!

This is quite an embarrassing story to tell :( This order goes way way back last year when the couple Jocelyn & Lennard tied the knot! Just last week, I made Lennard's birthday cupcakes together with their new addition to the family - baby Ryleigh! She is 2 months old now... She how long overdue this is? I need to be more efficient!

Anyway, they requested for a romantic seaside theme! I really love their set-up. It is sooo pretty! The wedding is @ Lone Pine by the sea side... I shall let the pictures do the story telling :)
